SERDO is a local grass root nonprofit organisation (NPO) which was formed in 2005 with a mission to assist community in terms of emergency and development and to capacitate community leaders, Community development committee, local governments to develop skills so that they can effectively initiate and manage development and job creation projects to the benefit of the communities they serve without conflicts.

Since 2005, SERDO has served the communities of Sool, Sanaag and Togdheer region for 13 years with the registration of Somaliland and Puntland. During that time our work has empowered communities to play an active role in determining their own destiny and in uplifting their quality of life. Communities have initiated and developed sustainable projects, thereby playing an active role in the development of S/land, .

We have built more than 70 village development committees for seventy villages under Hudun, Taleh, Laascaanood, Buuhoodle Districts, The organisation is fortunate to have a team of highly trained and dedicated facilitators who are able to adapt the material to the cultural environment. Today, SERDO will be on the ground in Togdheer and Sool helping 18,000 beneficiaries to recover from drought, disaster, build better lives and transform their communities for good.

In FY of 2016-2017,18 with WFP support, SERDO targeted 120,000 food insecure beneficiaries and provided 4000 metric tons of specialized nutrition of food to the people of Sool, Sanaag and Togdheer regions who affected by drought and, SERDO provided more than $4 million cash voucher to continue its efforts to provide food voucher assistance to the most vulnerable people in these regions- enabling beneficiaries to select purchases among 20 different food items, including fresh meat, fish, vegetable, milk and eggs by working with pre-selected vendors to provide a wide variety of food items, Food voucher improved the diversity of diets and utilized existing, functioning markets and reduced poverty and conflicts.
